Bahrain Accepts 2 Additional Universal Periodic Review Recommendations

Information Affairs Authority, 18 September 2012, Geneva: Following the Government of Bahrain’s response to the UN Human Rights Council on 12 September, 2012, the Government of Bahrain has today (Tuesday) submitted an addendum to the Office of the High Commissioner in connection with the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process. In this addendum, Bahrain fully accepted two additional recommendations.

One recommendation relates to considering ratifying the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture. The second concerns the activities of non-Government organizations.

With this addendum, the total number of UPR recommendations that enjoy the Government’s full support is 145, in addition to the 13 that enjoy its partial support. The total number of recommendations that Bahrain received is 176.

 
The Government submitted its response on Wednesday, 12 September 2012.
